The quite brilliant A Quiet Place stormed the box office over the weekend, earning $50m in its opening few days in the States alone. The movie, from director John Krasinski, was penned by Bryan Woods and Scott Beck, and as it turns out, they’ve got plans to revisit the world they’ve set up.
Chatting to Fandango, they said that “it’s such a fun word. There are so many things you could do”. Options include taking the perspective of a different family in a similar situation, or picking up the story from the first film.
“There are so many discarded set pieces, too, just hiding out on Word documents on our computer. So yeah, there are certainly so many stories you could tell. It’s just really, at the end of the day, who are the characters in this and what does the situation mean to that dynamic?”
Filmed on a production budget of under $20m, it’s a fair bet that sequel questions have already begun. Whether John Krasinski would direct again remains to be seen. More as we – chortle – hear it…
