There’s a new Fallen Kingdom trailer on the horizon, and it’ll be with us very soon indeed.

As promised, Universal has confirmed plans to launch its third and presumably final trailer for Jurassic World 2 tomorrow, April 18th, by which point we ought to have a better understanding of the sequel’s plot and its genetically modified beastie.

Because if you thought the Indominus Rex was scary, you ain’t seen nothing yet. This time around, the crazed scientists of Isla Nublar and inGen have cooked up something much more sinister. Its name? The Indoraptor, a miniaturized version of its rampaging predecessor that is every bit as intelligent and deadly as Rex 2.0.

And though it doesn’t feature on the newly-unveiled poster for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, tomorrow’s trailer will surely offer up a better look at what is essentially the sequel’s chief antagonist, one who will likely be at loggerheads with Blue, Chris Pratt’s star student, when the lights go down in two months’ time.

On the human side of things, Fallen Kingdom spells the return of Infinity War‘s Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, who are now joined by series veteran Jeff Goldblum, James Cromwell, Ted Levine, Justice Smith, Geraldine Chaplin, Daniella Pineda, Toby Jones, Rafe Spall, and BD Wong.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom roars into theaters on June 22nd. And after that? A second sequel that will herald the return of Colin Trevorrow to the director’s chair, after the director recently parted ways with Lucasfilm due to creative differences on Star Wars: Episode IX.

Entertainment, the peripheral, TV News

Westworld creators Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan will adapt William Gibson’s futuristic sci-fi novel The Peripheral for Amazon. When HBO unleashed Game of Thrones on the world in 2011, it quickly became clear that the game had changed when it came to staging fantasy and sci-fi stories for television. Thrones has of course only become bigger over the years, sending HBO’s competitors scrambling to find their own tentpole genre properties.

In their own effort to keep up with HBO, Amazon will try to one-up Game of Thrones by going back to the well-spring to produce a Lord of the Rings series that could cost north of $500 million (and may yet be produced by Peter Jackson). Of course, Thrones isn’t the only major, pop culture dominating genre property at HBO. There’s also Westworld, the mind-bending sci-fi series currently headed into its second season. When it comes to discussion on social media, Reddit and other outlets, Westworld inspires nearly as much passion as Thrones.

Now it appears Amazon will go for their own Westworld-style sci-fi series. And who better to deliver the goods than the very team responsible for HBO’s epic futuristic robot Western? As reported by THR, Joy and Nolan will hop over to Amazon to adapt acclaimed novelist William Gibson’s sci-fi novel The Peripheral through their Kilter Films banner. Scott B. Smith (A Simple Plan) will handle writing chores with Vincenzo Natali (Westworld) directing. Amazon reportedly has given the project a script-to-series order, meaning it would bypass the pilot stage if the script turns out well.

Gibson of course is renowned as the originator of the cyberpunk genre with his classic novel Neuromancer (at one time reportedly set to become a movie directed by Tim Miller). Gibson’s 2014 work The Peripheral takes place in two timelines: a near future where things have progressed in a decidedly dystopian direction, and a more distant future where a flat out horrible cataclysm has wiped out most of humanity, leaving earth’s cities largely abandoned. These two worlds become linked via the use of cyborg avatars – called “peripherals” – that take advantage of quantum effects to travel back and forth through time. Gibson has already penned a sequel called Agency, set to release this month (opening up the possibility for a longer run of seasons at Amazon).

Legendary as Gibson may be, adaptations of his works have seldom made it far in development. But with their experience bringing the complex, multi-timeline narrative of Westworld to life, perhaps Joy and Nolan will be the ones to finally crack the code. As far as Amazon goes, the “copy HBO” plan seems to be in full effect. Lord of the Rings may give them their Game of Thrones, and The Peripheral may give them their Westworld.

Here’s a cheery story for a lunchtime: remember all that talk about a new take on Gremlins? It’s a story that’s bumbled on and off during most of the time we’ve been doing this site. And now? It looks like it’s actually moving forward.

Er, hurray!

Chris Columbus, who wrote the first movie, has given an update to Metro in America on this one, and he confirmed “Gremlins, we are actively talking about that”. Columbus is unlikely to direct, given that he’s next to helm the Five Night At Freddy’s movie (we dearly hope they write ‘from the director of Home Alone’ on the poster). But his production company – 1492 Pictures – is overseeing the new project.

“It will almost definitely be a reboot”, he also said.

Columbus also penned the original The Goonies, but he added that plans for The Goonies 2 look like they’ve petered out. “That’s a difficult one”, he admitted. “Only because all of the actors have gotten older and chosen different careers. So that’s a little more difficult”.

There’s no timescale yet on the new Gremlins movie. Just remember the golden rule of the internet, though: never shoot the messenger [runs for cover]…

Five episodes were provided prior to broadcast.

Bring yourself back online.

The brainchild of Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy’s cerebral interpretation of Michael Crichton’s 1973 sci-fi western, Westworld became the most-watched first season of an original series in HBO history, earning the network a bevy of accolades, and vindicating the Time Warner division’s $100 million gamble.

In season 1, Arnold’s labyrinth of consciousness provided visitors with an unparalleled look at the inherent humanity of Artificial Intelligence and the dangers of playing god. “The Maze,” or so it is dubbed by those above-the-line, appropriately delivered twists and turns, luring both the guests and hosts on a “voyage of self-discovery.”

At season’s end, Dolores (Evan Rachel Wood) shepherded the robot revolt against humanity, killing countless Delos’ executives and the park’s co-creator, Robert Ford (Anthony Hopkins), thereby initiating his last narrative. The finale had its pièce de résistance deadened, however, by Redditors who prognosticated that the Man in Black (Ed Harris) was indeed William (Jimmi Simpson), just thirty-years older. Joy and Nolan managed to get even last week, though, duping users of the news aggregation site with an elaborate, hauntingly beautiful Rickroll disguised as season 2 spoilers. Serves them right.

Much like the park itself, Nolan and Joy’s rendering of Westworld 2.0 has gone off the grid, opting for the simplicity of character and story development over season 1’s non-linear, puzzle box-like structure. What last season felt like the compression of an elaborate and confusing TED Talk into an hour of sci-fi scripture, no matter how intellectually stimulating it may have been, has transitioned into a fleet-footed, vastly more entertaining sixty minutes, occasionally in excess of. Each episode shoots off like a spring-loaded snake-in-a-can, keeping guests’ intensity and vitals at intoxicating levels. You can either play the game or ride the roller coaster, and Westworld’s sophomore outing has reached the necessary height requirements and buckled Sweetwater residents in for the ride

Maeve (Thandie Newton) and her multifarious team – Lutz (Leonardo Nam), Sylvester (Ptolemy Slocum), Hector Escaton (Rodrigo Santoro), Armistice (Ingrid Bolsø Berdal) and new meat Lee Sizemore (Simon Quarterman) – are in search of the madam’s cornerstone, her daughter. Meanwhile, Dolores/Wyatt and Teddy (James Marsden) are recruiting an army to overthrow their engineers and claim the new world as their own.

Elsewhere, The Man in Black, or William as he should now be referred to given last season’s conclusion, has reunited with his favourite sentient, Lawrence (Clifton Collins Jr.), and is relishing the park’s newfound reality. As for Bernard Lowe (Jeffery Wright), he’s adrift in his mind, unable to decipher the present from memory, which quite possibly has opened a secret door that could tectonically shift Westworld forever.

Like his brother Christopher, Jonathan Nolan’s oeuvre is enkindled by lofty concepts, and while I do miss pontificating over Anthony Hopkins’ poetic, elucidated monologues, Westworld is a much more enjoyable and emotional experience for muzzling the pastiche and allusion. Season 2’s story arc has largely done away with the intrinsic existential quandaries of consciousness, AI or otherwise, to deal with more pertinent questions, not the least of which is how the hosts that inhabit Delos’ various adult-theme-parks, actually work.

As an elated William concisely put it, “The stakes are real in this place now.” This clever bit of dialogue serves as a reflection of Westworld’s evolution from a theme-park based on rape, murder, and code to a metaphysical world run by chaos and morality. In this new world, each character can exhibit compassionate behaviour, AI or otherwise, allowing them to break free from their narrative loops. Watching these sentient beings learn and display emotion is as fulfilling and terrifying as listening to Ford compare humankind’s intellect to a Peacock’s display or a mere mating tactic. Still, Westworld hasn’t completely purged itself of cryptic flummox, once again overvaluing the secrecy of a place called “Glory” or “The Valley Beyond,” but we’ll likely have to wait until Redditors decipher it or season’s end to figure that mystery out.

A lot has changed in the second season of HBO’s arcane sci-fi thriller, but the show’s ensemble remains its most prized asset, notably Evan Rachel Wood and newcomer Peter Mullan (Sunset Song). Joy and Nolan aren’t without upgrades though, as season 2 of Westworld has dealt with a critical error in the show, namely having its characters serve the overall narrative and not the other way around, and the difference is akin to the disparity between binary and quantum computing; it’s no contest. Ramin Djawadi’s player-piano still echoes throughout the show’s southwestern USA landscapes, even if the canyons don’t run as deep this time around.

Deadpool 2, Entertainment, movies, News

Though Solo: A Star Wars Story is currently adorning the cover of Empire’s new issue (see here), there’s still ample room for the Merc With a Mouth and his half-assed attempt at an X-Men costume.

Pictured alongside Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead, this all-new Deadpool 2 action shot finds Wade Wilson in full battle gear as he approaches a particularly dangerous, fire-wielding mutant. Oh, and he’s wearing a yellow X-Men vest, presumably as a means of mocking Negasonic Teenage Warhead, who can be seen in full X-gear for the very first time.

Meanwhile, that firey newcomer is played by none other than Julian Dennison (Hunt for the Wilderpeople), who is of particular interest to Cable, the one-armed bandit who has traveled through time to find and stop Dennison’s character in his tracks. Perhaps he’s responsible for some future atrocity that the Merc must prevent? Who knows, but it seems increasingly likely that he’ll be playing Russell Collins, the gifted teen otherwise known as Firefist. See for yourself:

Deadpool 2 Empire

We know from previous trailers that the Merc will spend much of Deadpool 2 trying to assemble the X-Force, thereby laying the groundwork quite nicely for Drew Goddard’s brewing team-up movie. With that in mind, we’re inclined to believe that Julian Dennison’s character will hang around for two or three X-Men movies beyond 2018, regardless of who he actually is.

Ditto for Josh Brolin (Cable) and Zazie Beetz (Domino), while the David Leitch-directed sequel has also found room in its ranks for Terry Crews, Shioli Kutsuna, and It star Bill Skarsgård, who is perhaps best known for his unforgettable performance as Pennywise, the sewer-dwelling clown of Derry, Maine.

Deadpool 2, meanwhile, will officially herald the Merc’s second coming on May 18th.

anthem, Entertainment, Game News

BioWare is working hard on upcoming title Anthem, and according to the studio’s General Manager the game is going to deliver something unique to players. Anthem was initially revealed by the developer back at E3 2017, hot off the heels of the disappointment of Mass Effect: Andromeda, and showcased something very different from the kinds of games that earned BioWare its great reputation.

In short, Anthem looked closer to the likes of Destiny than its acclaimed franchises such as Dragon Age and Mass Effect. The brief moments of footage showcased a title that looked multiplayer-heavy, without the kinds of plot and character-driven intricacies that BioWare is so well known for. It certainly looked impressive, but some fans were concerned about the direction that BioWare was taking, particularly given that the game’s development was clearly prioritized over the BioWare Montreal-developed Mass Effect: Andromeda.

Related: Here’s The First Gameplay Footage From BioWare’s Anthem

However, GM Casey Hudson has been able to give an update on Anthem itself, and the BioWare boss suggests that Anthem is more than just a simple aping of those multiplayer-heavy games. In a post for BioWare, Hudson gave a brief outline of where Anthem sits, suggesting that the game will be different from anything seen before. “It will be unlike anything you’ve played, but if we do it right, it will feel very distinctly BioWare,” said Hudson.

BioWare Anthem E3 2017 Screenshot BioWare Boss Promises Anthem Will Be Unlike Anything You’ve Played

In part, Hudson suggests that this attempt comes down so some of the lessons learned from the failure of Mass Effect: Andromeda. The GM stated that the ill-fated sequel changed the mission statement of BioWare, saying “we need to delight players with new experiences and innovation, but we must stay focused on the importance of the world, character, and storytelling elements that players expect from our games.” In short, this then trickled down to the gameplay elements of the developer’s new game. “It’s in that spirit that we are working through production on Anthem – a game designed to create a whole new world of story and character that you can experience with friends in an ongoing series of adventures.”

It all sounds extremely positive, but some players may still be waiting to see exactly how Anthem operates before jumping on board. After all, 2017 was a year of debate for video game narratives; BioWare owners EA stated that no-one played single-player, story-driven games anymore, although the fact that so many popular and critically-beloved games were exactly that put paid to that line of thinking. As such, there’s still a bit of hesitancy about how Anthem will work.

At the very least, it’s good that BioWare seems to be taking its time over the game. The title was pushed back to a 2019 release in January, which at the very least means that the studio wants to make sure it gets it right at launch. If BioWare is able to deliver something truly different, then the wait will be worth it.

We’ve been looking forward to this one. Swimming With Men is a new comedy headlined by Rob Brydon. In it, he plays Eric, an accountant having something of a mid-life crisis. How does he handle it? Glad you asked. He joins an all-male synchronised swimming team. As you do.

The film co-stars Jane Horrocks, Rupert Graves, Adeel Akhtar, Jim Carter, Thomas Turgoose, Daniel Mays and Charlotte Riley, and over the course of the film, the lives of the swimmers and the battles they’re up against are expected to come to light. We’re expecting hearty chuckles, too.

Aschlin Ditta has penned the screenplay for the movie, which has been directed by Oliver Parker (the two recent-ish St Trinians movies, Dad’s Army). What’s more, we’ve finally got a release date for it. Having been acquired by Veritgo for release in the UK in a deal earlier this year, the movie now has a big summer release date: July 6th 2018.

Expect a trailer soon, and we’ll keep you posted as we hear more…

Dracula, Entertainment, News, Sherlock, tv

Though Sherlock‘s fate is still hanging in the balance, showrunners Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss are busy working on a different TV show for the BBC. Intended to be a “stablemate” of the hit detective drama, the duo are putting together a reinvention of Bram Stoker’s classic vampire novel Dracula.

While speaking to Graham Norton on his BBC Radio 2 show, Moffat had a few words to say about his new adaptation. He confirmed that he and Gatiss will tackle the project “in a Sherlock-y way” though there will be one important difference between them: Dracula won’t be brought into the modern day.

“But not in exactly the same way. We’re not modernizing it or anything, but we are doing a version of Dracula.”

So, it sounds like the show will remain in the original Victorian setting of the novel. Fans of the Sherlock Christmas special, “The Abominable Bride,” which took Holmes and Watson back to the 19th century (via a mind-bending dream sequence narrative) should certainly be pleased with this news.

dracula sherlock

Mark Gatiss previously revealed that he and Moffat were planning to start writing the scripts for the series in March, so we can assume that the pair are currently knee-deep in that. We have no idea what the cast will look like, but Gatiss has teased that – if he was to act in the show – he’d like to play the Count’s lackey, Renfield.

Moffat also reiterated on Norton’s show that Dracula would be produced in the same format as Sherlock and will consist of 3, 90 minute episodes per season. Gatiss, meanwhile, estimates that the writers will be working on the production for the next couple of years, at least, and given that it sounds like they’re taking their time to get it right, there’s no word just yet on exactly when Dracula is expected to air. As further updates surface, though, we’ll be sure to let you know.

Entertainment, Justice League, movies, News

Last week, Flashback FilmMaking released a new featurette dissecting the villain of Justice League, Steppenwolf. Voiced and motion captured by Ciaran Hinds, the baddie attempted to destroy Earth in the 2017 blockbuster using Mother Boxes but was ultimately thwarted by the titular supergroup. More specifically, Superman.

The warrior from Apokolips is a general in Darkseid’s army, whose coming was initially prophesied in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice during the Knightmare Flash sequence. Unfortunately, we’re not likely to ever see Steppenwolf’s nephew even begin his tyrannical reign, on account of WB and DC’s spat with DCEU creator, for all intents and purposes, Zack Snyder. But I digress.

Artist Jerad Marantz took to Instagram a few days ago and posted the below image of early concept art for Steppenwolf from the turbulent production. On Justice League, Marantz served as a costume concept illustrator and worked closely with costume designer Michael Wilkinson. The image in question depicts Steppenwolf with a “more human face option,” and according to Marantz, was one of “many versions.”

Marantz has worked in the industry for roughly twenty-years and has over sixty film credits to his name. Typically found in the art department, he’s also been accredited with a number of other contributions in the makeup, animation, and wardrobe departments. With any luck, he’ll share a few more early looks at Justice League‘s baddy in the near future.

In the meantime, if you’re pondering what the DCEU could’ve been under Zack Snyder’s control, be sure to check out the filmmaker on social media platform Vero. Snyder’s been particularly relentless on there lately, posting countless Easter eggs and hidden meanings, including some insight into the Knightmare Flash Sequence, mentioned above, and the reason behind Bruce Wayne’s Kryptonite Spear.

Entertainment, Lists

Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas are one of Hollywood’s hottest young couples — both have been in the spotlight since their early teenage years. Turner became instantly famous playing Sansa Stark on the mega-hit show Game of Thrones, while the boy band the Jonas Brothers put Joe in the public eye. Neither star’s popularity has faded, though, making their relationship all the more exciting for fans.

Sansa Stark remains one of the longest-surviving characters heading into the highly anticipated eighth and final season of Game of Thrones. Once a very controversial character, Sansa has become more likable as she’s asserted herself as a formidable political player, making the actress even more popular with the show’s fans. Turner has also taken on the role of mutant Jean Grey in X-Men: Apocalypse and the upcoming film X-Men: Dark Phoenix. Jonas, meanwhile, has moved onto being the vocalist for the American funk-rock band DNCE.

Successful and well-liked by many, the news that Turner and Jonas were dating was received with much excitement. Their relationship first became public in November of 2016, and news of their engagement flooded the Internet in October of 2017. Despite their considerable fame, the two stars have kept their relationship relatively private for a young Hollywood romance.

Here are 15 Interesting Facts About Joe Jonas And Sophie Turner’s Relationship.

15. Hailee Steinfeld Helped Them Meet

Pitch Perfect 2 Anna Kendrick Hailee Steinfeld 15 Interesting Facts About Joe Jonas And Sophie Turners Relationship

People always ask couples how they met and with Hollywood romances it’s no different. Fans of the Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas relationship owe some thanks to Hailee Steinfeld. Like Turner and Jonas, Steinfeld found herself in the spotlight during her teenage years after her brilliant performance as Mattie Ross in the 2010 remake of True Grit.

Turner and Steinfeld worked together on the film Barely Lethal and remain close friends. Steinfeld knew Jonas when she collaborated with his band DNCE on a song.

Steinfeld says she received a text from Turner asking about Jonas to which she replied, “Go for it!”

The relationship between Turner and Jonas started soon afterwards. It’s refreshing to hear the almost mundane nature of their meeting, one friend texting another to ask about someone she’s interested in. In some ways, even famous stars aren’t so different from their fans.

14. Their First Outing

joe jonas sophie turner concert 15 Interesting Facts About Joe Jonas And Sophie Turners Relationship

Unlike everyday relationships, a defining moment for Hollywood romances is the first time they’re spotted in public together. For Turner and Jonas, it was at a Kings of Leon concert in Rotterdam, Amsterdam in November 2016.

Many fans of both Jonas and Turner were thrilled, not just by the news itself, but also by pictures and reports of the two appearing very affectionate during the concert, even when joined by fellow members of Joe’s band DNCE — there was lots of PDA, dancing, and singing.

They seemed genuinely happy being with each other and that sparks still seems to be alive in their relationship. It was also the moment where the world found out about them, cementing them among the hottest new couples in Hollywood.

13. Privacy Issues

sophie turner joe jonas walking casual 15 Interesting Facts About Joe Jonas And Sophie Turners Relationship

While the happiness between them is so obvious and something they’ve both expressed frequently, it doesn’t negate the lack of privacy that haunts their relationship. Turner said in an interview with Marie Claire magazine that it sometimes feels “like you’re living in a fishbowl.”

Her stardom was already at a high level as Sansa Stark from Game of Thrones, but inevitably escalated further when the public saw her dating a popular musician like Joe Jonas.

These privacy issues are unfortunately inevitable for two young stars, especially in an age where social media reigns supreme. On the other hand, that commonality between them creates a certain understanding in their relationship. As she told InStyle magazine, “I found it easier to date someone who understands the industry or is in that world. You realize that you’re not going to see each other all the time.”

12. Their Puppy’s Name

porky basquiat 2 15 Interesting Facts About Joe Jonas And Sophie Turners Relationship

Sansa Stark named her dire wolf Lady, a name befitting of the young Sansa’s naive, prim and proper outlook on the world. When Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas got a dog, they went in quite a different direction from the name Lady. They named their dog Porky Basquiat, who they adopted as a puppy. Porky Basquiat even has an Instagram account, currently with 109,000 followers and only 18 adorable posts.

What Turner and Jonas named their dog tells as much about their shared sense of humor as the name Lady tells audiences about Sansa’s character. The “Porky” bit of the name may also be influenced by Turner’s love for sausages, a love that has manifested into an Instagram account where she posts pictures of sausages and reviews them. While the “Basquiat” part seems to be a reference to neo-expressionist artist Jean-Michel Basquiat, although this remains unconfirmed.

11. A Boring House

Hoster Tully funeral in Riverrun in Game of Thrones 15 Interesting Facts About Joe Jonas And Sophie Turners Relationship

When asked which Game of Thrones House Joe Jonas would belong to during an interview with E! News, Turner replied, “I don’t know, some boring House. He’d be like the Tullys.” She quickly amended her statement upon remembering that her mother Lady Catelyn was a Tully. No replacement House was given for Jonas, other than restating that he would be part of a boring one.

After all the suffering that’s befallen “exciting” Houses like the Starks, Lannisters, and Tyrells, maybe a boring House is the safest way to go.

That dig at the Tullys seems like a slap in the face for not only Sansa’s mother, but her Uncles Brynden and Edmure as well — though most fans would probably agree that Edmure deserved it.

10. They Announced Their Engagement Via Matching Instagram Posts

Sophie Turner instagram copy border 15 Interesting Facts About Joe Jonas And Sophie Turners Relationship

Sophie and Joe used an identical picture on their Instagram accounts to announce the news of their engagement in October 2017. The picture shows her hand, featuring an engagement ring, on top of Joe’s hand. Sophie’s picture was captioned with “I said yes” while Joe’s picture was captioned with “She said yes.”

It’s exactly the kind of cute, romantic moment Sansa Stark once believed in before suffering far too many times at the hands of George R. R. Martin’s cruel world. At least Sophie gets to experience some of that storybook romance her most iconic role once dreamed of. She and Jonas won the Internet that day and furthered their spot as not just one of Hollywood’s hottest young romances, but as one of the most adorable ones as well.

9. Maisie Williams Will Be A Bridesmaid At The Wedding

02 3 e1523909766300 15 Interesting Facts About Joe Jonas And Sophie Turners Relationship

Unlike the often contentious relationship between sisters Sansa and Arya Stark, Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams are best friends in real life, even dubbing their relationship “#Mophie.” While growing up on the show together, the goofy pair has become endlessly supportive of one another. Their antics have brought much joy to Game of Thrones fans, from their stint on Carpool Karaoke to the silly faces in their many Instagram pictures.

As such, it’s only fitting that Maisie Williams will be a bridesmaid at her best friend’s wedding.

With Maisie in that role, the wedding is sure to be full of fun, joy, and shenanigans that define their friendship. It’ll certainly be preferable to attending the infamous Red Wedding.

8. Sophie Turner Is “Different” Than Others Girls Joe Has Dated

Taylor Swift Joe Jonas 15 Interesting Facts About Joe Jonas And Sophie Turners Relationship

Sophie Turner is not the only young, high-profile star that Joe Jonas has dated. Before dating Turner, he dated musicians such as Taylor Swift and Demi Lovato. Something seems to have clicked in Joe’s relationship with Sophie that just didn’t happen with Lovato or Swift.

In fact, an anonymous insider close to Joe Jonas told PEOPLE magazine that Sophie was “different from the other girls he’s dated.” Whatever that difference was has certainly led to a whirlwind romance. It was clear from their first public sighting as a couple that they loved spending time together and made each other happy. Fans across the world hope that the difference spoken of will continue and not fizzle out, as happens all too often with many celebrity relationships.

7. Sophie Turner Is A Big Fan Of Taylor Swift

taylor swift2 15 Interesting Facts About Joe Jonas And Sophie Turners Relationship

Just because Joe Jonas used to date Taylor Swift doesn’t mean Sophie Turner has any resentment towards the popular singer — in fact, she is a big fan of Taylor Swift! On her 22nd birthday, Turner shared a video on social media of herself lip-syncing Swift’s song “22” as part of her celebration. Beyond just using her music, Turner has stood up for Taylor Swift in the past by defending the Grammy-winner for appearing on the magazine cover of Time when honoring the Silence Breakers as the 2017 Person Of The Year.

Clearly, Turner has a tremendous amount of respect for Taylor Swift, as both an artist and as a person.

Building up fellow women in the entertainment industry instead of tearing them down is refreshing, a kind of maturity that sets a positive example for both fellow stars and fans.

6. Tremendous Celebrity Support

lovato jonas e1523914505253 15 Interesting Facts About Joe Jonas And Sophie Turners Relationship

While Sophie stands up for one of Joe’s exes and jams out to her songs, a different ex showed support following the news of the engagement. Soon after it was made public on Instagram, Demi Lovato expressed her own support and excitement at the news on social media.

She was hardly the only star that congratulated the couple on their engagement and expressed support and excitement on social media. Nick and Kevin Jonas did the same with their own individualized posts.

The Jonas Brothers may no longer be an active group, but their fans can take comfort in seeing all three siblings unified in the positive energy surrounding the engagement. It always feels good to get that kind of acceptance from the family that one is marrying into.

5. Parental Support

Jonas Brothers Dad 15 Interesting Facts About Joe Jonas And Sophie Turners Relationship

The dreaded in-laws are often one of the worst parts about marriage, and it can be even worse than normal when famous families are in play. Fortunately for Sophie Turner, that won’t be the case at all.

Joe’s father told PEOPLE magazine “We’re a blessed family to have her as our future daughter-in-law — and, in our minds, [she’s] already a daughter-in-law!”

He also added, “From the first time we met her, we knew she was a special young lady.” This makes their relationship all the better with support not only coming from siblings, but from parents as well. Yet again Sophie is lucking out where her character Sansa did not. Kevin Jonas Sr. is a major upgrade over the fathers-in-law in Game of Thrones.

4. A Costly Engagement Ring

maxresdefault 1 2 e1523913626314 15 Interesting Facts About Joe Jonas And Sophie Turners Relationship

While news of their engagement has been received with overwhelmingly positive energy and support, it certainly didn’t come cheap. The beautiful engagement ring is estimated to cost between $25,000 and $30,000. If this is what the engagement ring alone cost, fans can only speculate what amazing finances are planned for their wedding. The diamond ring features a pear-shaped center stone and weights three carats.

No wonder the public announcement of their engagement on Instagram focused so prominently on the ring, considering the hefty price tag and its many stunning elements. And yet, there are numerous cases of engagement rings costing far more in the history of Hollywood romances. For us mere mortals, it is definitely an expensive ring.

3. The Proposal Came As A Surprise

Sophie Turner as Sansa in Game of Thrones Season 5 Finale 15 Interesting Facts About Joe Jonas And Sophie Turners Relationship

Fans weren’t the only ones feeling both excited and surprised by the news of Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner’s engagement. Even for Sophie, the proposal was not something she was expecting.

This is shocking considering she’d only been dating Jonas for about a year when he proposed, which even by Hollywood standards, can be a pretty quick jump from dating to proposing.

Especially in a day and age where more and more people are getting married older. But if the love is there, individuals are bound to continue getting engaged in their 20’s. The surprising nature of the proposal certainly didn’t prevent the engagement from becoming a reality, though, leaving fans eager to see what happy surprises are in store for this young couple.

2. Game Of Thrones Season 8 Will Delay The Wedding

Game of Thrones Season 8 Promo Poster 15 Interesting Facts About Joe Jonas And Sophie Turners Relationship

The proposal may have come as a quick surprise, but the wedding surely won’t. Both Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas have said they’re going to take their time with the wedding, but season 8 of Game of Thrones is also partly responsible.

What many involved are promising will be the biggest and best season yet won’t be airing until 2019. Filming already began, but there is still plenty of work for Sophie and all involved to tackle for the show’s final season. Wedding plans doesn’t seem to be in the cards until season 8 is all wrapped up.

In the meantime, both Sophie and Joe can continue balancing their relationship while at the same time working to further their successful entertainment careers — a balance they both seem to have mastered. At least fans can revel in the knowledge that Maisie Williams will be one of the bridesmaids at the wedding.
