For Captain Marvel, Clark Gregg’s Phil Coulson might be the latest Marvel actor to be digitally de-aged following Michael Douglas’ Hank Pym (Ant-Man), Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark (Captain America: Civil War) and Kurt Russel’s Ego (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2). The actor is set to reprise his fan-favorite role in the Brie Larson-headlining solo Captain Marvel movie.

Earlier this month, Gregg officially returned to the movie side of the MCU when he started working on Captain Marvel, though his reappearance in the films was revealed via the film’s cast list. One of the original actors to be part of the massive franchise, Coulson was introduced in 2008’s Iron Man. He continued to be a uniting thread in the next several films until the Avengers first assembled in Joss Whedon’s The Avengers. Unfortunately, that 2012 smash hit was also his last appearance on the big screen after he was killed by Loki. Since then, he has been secretly running a black ops team on ABC’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Speaking with ComicBook, Gregg teased his much-anticipated return to the MCU in Captain Marvel. The actor hinted at Coulson being de-aged in the forthcoming Marvel movie:

“That was a fun call from my friends in the Cinematic Universe, who I normally see at these events, saying, ‘You know, we think once again we have some work for you, but it takes place in the ’90s. Can you go to the gym?’ Yeah, I said, ‘The ’90s? I mean, there is no gym that can get me back to the ’90s.’ And they said, ‘Well, don’t worry. We’ve been working on that technology, and we think we can goose you back a few years.’”

Nick Fury and Agent Coulson Captain Marvel May Digitally De Age Clark Gregg ‘A Few Years’

While it’s not a confirmation, it won’t be entirely surprising considering that the film is set in ’90s. If anything, it would be exciting to see almost all returning Marvel characters de-aged given the premise of the film and see how that could be pulled off. What’s curious to know is if Larson will be included in the digitally de-aged key players and then retain her own physical appearance when she joins the bigger universe moving forward, or if it’s going to be the other way around. Another possibility is the actress just having the same look (similar to Steve Rogers’ situation) possibly a side-effect to being caught in the Kree device explosion that also gave her powers. Captain Marvel set photos show the Academy Award-winner without the usual dotted face used for CGI work so there’s a good chance that the last option might be the route they’re going.

After Captain Marvel, fans might see Coulson again on the big screen in the still-untitled Avengers 4. While fans know that he’s been running around trying to save the world with his own elite team, Earth’s Mightiest Heroes still has no idea that he survived Loki’s attack – one long-running mystery that the MCU needs to address fast given the character’s predicament in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

choose your own adventure, Entertainment, Movie News

Fox have teamed up with Kino Industries to develop a Choose Your Own Adventure movie. Those who grew up in the 1980s will likely have heard of, if not avidly collected, the Choose Your Own Adventure series of children’s books that allowed readers to select what action the lead characters took at certain critical junctures in the story, thus actively influencing the plot itself and ensuring a new adventure with every read. The gimmick worked by asking readers to turn to a certain page number depending on the choice they made in order to find out how their path progressed.

Numerous attempts at interactive cinema experiences have been attempted in the past, with the first being 1967’s Kinoautomat. First screened in Montreal, Kinoautomat began like any other movie but was paused at various points, during which the audience would vote on what should happen next. The corresponding scene would then be shown depending on the result of the vote. In 1992, I’m Your Man was released in the U.S. which utilized the same concept but introduced joystick technology to allow the audience to make their selections, however the idea failed to catch on.

20th Century Fox have now announced that they’re attempting to bring the world of interactive cinema up-to-date for the smartphone generation in collaboration with Kino Industries’ CtrlMOVIE technology. The technology will debut with Choose Your Own Adventure and will come in the form of a smartphone app that’ll allow the audience to control the actions of the various characters on screen at certain points in the story. Fox promises that these voting periods will happen seamlessly without a break in the movie itself and confirms the possibility of a multi-movie partnership, if successful.

Choose Your Own Adventure The Abominable Snowman Fox Developing Choose Your Own Adventure Feature Film

With the world of cinema saturated with sequels, reboots and re-imaginings, any attempt to bring fresh ideas to the table is greatly appreciated and, since movie audiences are arguably more vocal than ever about the movies they like and dislike, it’s perhaps the ideal time to revisit the idea of allowing viewers to have control over what they’re watching on screen.

However, there are a number of clear, inherent problems with bringing the Choose Your Own Adventure concept to the big screen. Firstly, many of the criticisms that dogged previous attempts at interactive movies are still relevant. Although the technology may have improved, voting on how characters should act drags the viewer out of their suspension of disbelief and away from simply enjoying the movie. This will be especially true if they have to miss part of the film to get their phone out, fire up an app and make their vote.

Secondly, a key appeal of the Choose Your Own Adventure book experience was that, as the title suggests, you decided what happened, immersing the reader personally in the story. In theaters, the outcome is dependent not only on your own vote, but also of everyone else in the room. It’s frustrating enough when a movie ends badly; it’ll likely be even more frustrating if it ends badly because a group in the back row decide to pick all the worst choices.

The alleged sex trafficking cult linked to Smallville actress Allison Mack is the focus for not one, but two upcoming projects. A scripted story based on true events, and a docuseries, will be based on the reported cult, NXIVM. The docuseries has already begun shooting.

Just five days ago, Mack was arrested by the FBI in connection with the alleged cult. She was released on bond yesterday. Mack was accused of recruiting women under the guise of a self-help group. Instead, the women were allegedly forced to undergo half-hour branding ceremonies in which the cult’s founder, Keith Raniere, would mark the women with his initials. The women were then allegedly forced into sexual slavery or forced labor. Raniere was arrested in connection with the cult in March. It was said that Mack was one of Raniere’s highest ranking members within NXIVM. At the time of her arrest, a representative of Mack’s had no comment on the situation.

THR reports of an upcoming scripted series that would be inspired by actual events that transpired within the alleged cult. Annapurna Television optioned the rights to the New York Times expose about NXIVM published late last year. The series is intended to explore the trauma of the women inducted into NXIVM. The story will dive into the experience of the victims being hoodwinked, thinking they were joining an empowering self-help group and then being ritually assaulted. Westworld actress Shannon Woodward will executive produce the series, along with Megan Ellison, Susan Goldberg, and Sue Naegle of Annapurna Television.

Justin Hartley and Allison Mack as Oliver Queen Green Arrow and Chloe Sullivan in Smallville Scripted & Doc Series Inspired By Alleged Sex Cult in the Works

Along with the based-on-a-true-story scripted series, an NXIVM docuseries is also in the works, per Deadline. This series will follow the efforts of Canadian actress Sarah Edmondson (Psych) and her husband, Anthony Ames, to simulate back into society after breaking away from the alleged cult. Edmondson was one of the first women to speak out about the abuse she suffered by Raniere inside the cult. The couple were also reportedly responsible for recruiting more victims into the cult and have been attempting to help fellow members to escape.

The actress and her husband have already begun to work with the head of the Cult Education Institute, Rick Alan Ross, to try to heal from their ordeal inside NXIVM. Some of their reformative journey has already been documented, and it is this footage that will be used in the docuseries.

Considering the rise in popularity of true crime media, which may be attributed to the massive success of the podcast Serial and similar content, it’s no wonder these TV series are in the works. How they turn out and the response to them by viewers, though, remains to be seen.

Entertainment, morbius, Movie News

Antoine Fuqua has revealed that Sony approached him to direct Morbius the Living Vampire. Fuqua and Sony have a working relationship that goes back twenty years, starting with the director’s feature debut on Chow Yun-Fat’s The Replacement Killers. The filmmaker has since then successfully rebooted The Equalizer and Magnificent Seven for the studio, so it’s only makes sense for them to approach Fuqua about tackling one of the more obscure characters from their burgeoning Spider-Man antihero universe that Tom Hardy’s Venom will kick off this fall.

Created in 1971 by Gil Kane and Roy Thomas, Morbius isn’t a literal vampire but a character who, in typical Spider-Man fashion, gained his vampiric powers from a science experiment gone wrong. His mythology is relatively grounded for someone dubbed “The Living Vampire”, which makes him a better match for Fuqua’s creative sensibilities than similarly fantastical superheroes. Fuqua has yet to direct a film in the science-fiction/fantasy territory that comic book heroes occupy, but it certainly sounds like he’s seriously considering the prospect now.

Related: Denzel is Back in The Equalizer 2 Trailer

JoBlo caught up with Fuqua at the ongoing CinemaCon 2018 in Las Vegas, where the director is promoting Sony’s upcoming sequel The Equalizer 2. Their discussion inevitably turned to comic book and superhero movies, with Fuqua mentioning that he was approached to direct Black Panther years before anyone even knew what a Marvel Cinematic Universe was. He then revealed that Sony has more recently discussed the Morbius movie with him:

“As a kid I grew up with comic books. They talked to me about Black Panther years ago, way back in the day. There’s some reason they came up and they talked to me about at Sony, a Marvel character, Morbius [The Living Vampire]…that kinda came up. I don’t know, I have a thirteen-year-old son so I’m watching more of that again and it’s exciting to do that. I’d love to create a new one. Y’know, something that’s closer to what I get excited about.”

While Fuqua was receptive when JoBlo suggested he should revive the Blade movie series instead, the quote above suggests that big screen newcomer Morbius might be more his speed. Moreover, with the Blade franchise rights now back at Marvel Studios, Sony’s own vampire superhero movie would afford Fuqua the level of creative freedom that he’s come to enjoy while working for the studio. Given that most non-hardcore comic book types have never even heard of The Living Vampire, that allows Fuqua even more wiggle room to envision the character in whatever way he deems fit.

The Morbius movie already has a complete script draft, courtesy of Lost in Space TV show reboot creators and Dracula Untold screenwriters Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless. Fuqua is gearing up to start filming Universal’s Scarface reboot this year, but he’s not firmly committed to any other projects and could set to work on Morbius shortly thereafter. Venom will have opened in theaters by then too, meaning it should be clearer just how serious Sony is about moving ahead with this Spider-Man antihero franchise.

We will bring you more details on Morbius the Living Vampire as they become available.

Entertainment, Movie News, the avengers 3

Avengers: Infinity War screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely have explained that including Adam Warlock in the movie would been “a massive backbend,” requiring a whole other movie just to introduce the character first. There has long been speculation about the character making an appearance in Avengers: Infinity War, given his strong connections to the Infinity Stones and the Infinity Gauntlet. However, last summer Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn confirmed that Adam Warlock was not a part of Infinity War, while cryptically adding that “he will have a future in the MCU.”

Adam Warlock is an artificially created cosmic being, designed to be the perfect human, who made his Marvel Comics debut more than fifty years ago. In the comics, Adam Warlock is the guardian of the Soul Gem (known as the Soul Stone in the Marvel Cinematic Universe), and has also wielded the Infinity Gauntlet. He notably led the fight against Thanos in The Infinity Gauntlet, the comic book upon which Infinity War is based.

While Adam Warlock might seem like the perfect fit for Infinity War, Markus explained to ET Online that the movie is already so packed with superheroes that there was no way to do the character justice:

“We didn’t introduce Adam Warlock, because it’s a massive backbend and you practically have to make an Adam Warlock movie to introduce him. He just can’t walk onscreen. So, there was a brief moment where we were like, Ehhh…, and then we were like– [He points to the movie’s poster.] We have that many characters already! And then there were others we couldn’t use. Like, Silver Surfer would have been useful, but we can’t touch him. Currently.”

Marvel Comics Adam Warlock origins Avengers: Infinity War Writers Reveal Why They Cut Adam Warlock

Adam Warlock is born in Fantastic Four #67

In the same interview Markus and McFeely also revealed that, at one point, Infinity War‘s script included a giant snake.

Is there anything from your initial brainstorming or from those first drafts that got cut along the way that you wish would have made it in?

Markus: I will tell you something that you will go, “Oh, I’m really glad that’s not in there.”

Tell me.

Markus: A giant f**king snake. Just huuuge!

McFeely: Oh, we had a big snake. [Laughs] That’s right.

Is that true?

McFeely: Yeah, we had a big snake in there.

Markus: We were sort of running on empty and we were like, “Snake? Big snake? Let’s try big snake.” And then everyone went insane.

While fans of Adam Warlock may be disappointed that he’s not a part of Infinity War (or next year’s sequel, Avengers 4), the screenwriters’ explanation makes a lot of sense. Adam Warlock is an important character with a great deal of history in the comics, and trying to find space to introduce him in a movie that’s already bursting at the seams with superheroes would have been nearly impossible. However, given Gunn’s statement that the character has a future in the MCU, don’t be surprised if he plays a key role in one of Marvel’s Phase 4 movies. Possibly alongside a giant snake.

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige appears open to the idea of having horror movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The studio’s 10-year history doesn’t currently include any traditional horror properties, but in the wake of Avengers: Infinity War, a little bit is being revealed about their Phase 4 plans. While there won’t be any actual Phase 4 reveals until after the release of Avengers 4, plans are slowly moving into place and the internet is filled with rumors about MCU’s potential future.

Marvel has a long history of having horror comics both on and off screen. From Wesley Snipes’s classic Blade to Ghost Rider, Marvel has made use of its horror-esque properties (through various Hollywood studios), but never under the direction of Feige and his team at Disney. Marvel has mentioned characters like Man-Thing on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Robbie Reyes’s Ghost Rider has become a beloved part of their franchise. Characters like Moon Knight could also have a horror bent – even Captain America has had a turn as a horror character as Capwolf – and it looks like some of those iterations could come to life on the big screen.

Related: Moon Knight Is In The Future Plans For the MCU

In an interview with Comicbook, Feige is ready to consider horror as a potential genre for the MCU. The superhero genre is making strides with movies like Venom, which has somewhat of a horror vibe, as well as 20th Century Fox’s New Mutants, which is truly focused on bringing horror into the X-Men universe. Feige broke new ground with Black Panther that dealt with sensitive topics, and according to him, the studio is ready to embrace change. Feige says that he wants to continue to explore multiple genres and many different stories with the MCU.

“I think, again, horror can mean a lot of things. Horror, did you mean a movie like Texas Chainsaw Massacre or Hostel or a Friday the 13th or a PoltergeistPoltergeist is a little bit more my wheelhouse, that’s such a great movie and it scared the heck out of me but it’s really fun. I don’t know, I certainly would like to play with as many genres as possible.”

Kevin Feige Avengers Infinity War Kevin Feige Says MCU Horror Movies Are Possible

At the moment, the genre as a whole has a real chance to make strides with New Mutants. The X-Men release has been repeatedly pushed back, with its recent round of reshoots aimed at making the film scarier, similar to IT. The box office numbers for Stephen King’s horror masterpiece don’t lie, the film made over $700 worldwide. Horror is seeing a renaissance from multiple studios as people move to push the genre’s envelope – and that’s something that Fox wants to bring to the X-Men universe, which means other studios could soon follow suit.

Marvel Studios would be an incredible contender in the genre, given their catalog of characters and stories. Even with Black Panther tackling sensitive material, though, Marvel still has to contend with Disney’s policies. The Mouse House isn’t exactly known for R rated films, nor are they known for producing horror movies. And since fans have already been concerned about Disney’s position on Deadpool following the pending Fox merger, it’s worth asking just what Marvel can bring to the table under Disney’s purview when it comes to horror. While there are plenty of genres for Marvel to tackle, it would certainly be interesting to see their take on horror.

Entertainment, moon knight, Movie News, SR Originals

Marvel Studios has plans for Moon Knight in the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In building the MCU, Marvel’s used some of their more popular characters, but have also turned some of their more obscure properties into household names. Thanks to the abundance of characters they have at their disposal (and the possibility of the X-Men and Fantastic Four being available soon), the studio’s decision to hone in on certain characters means other fan favorite ones have not yet been brought to the screen.

One of the most requested characters to debut is Marc Spector aka Moon Knight. Whether it has been rumors of him heading to Netflix or possible seeds planted in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, fans have been left waiting without any real news on what his future is.

Related: James Gunn Once Pitched Marvel a Moon Knight Movie

So, when Screen Rant had the chance to talk to Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige as part of the Avengers: Infinity War press junket, one of the topics we had to ask him about was Moon Knight’s potential for the MCU. What exactly their plans are for the hero with multiple personalities is still a secret, but he is definitely in the (literal) cards.

Yes. Does that mean five years from now, 10 years from now, 15 years from now? There are stacks of character cards that we have in our, in our development offices, which we look at. Which we pull for him, which we discussed.

Moon Knight Moon Knight Is In The Future Plans For the MCU

Considering how long fans have been asking for Moon Knight to appear, the sooner he can make it to the screen the better. There’s been no reports of Moon Knight being an actively developed project for the studio though. While fans understandably are eager to see the character brought to life, his debut could still be a few years away at this point – unlike the status of fellow fan-favorite character Nova. That could change however if he makes an appearance in another movie first before potentially getting a franchise all his own.

Marc Spector is one of Marvel’s most fascinating and complicated heroes. Spector is a former military man who later uses his skills to be a mercenary. His life is forever changed when a mission takes him to Egypt where the Egyptian moon god Khonshu grants him a second chance at life following a deadly fight. Spector’s new life takes him on other-worldly missions, some of which can’t be trusted thanks to his multiple personalities. Regardless of what name he goes by, Spector is an excellent fighter and marksman and isn’t afraid to demonstrate his skills.

With Feige stating Marvel Studios’ interest in Moon Knight, it can effectively rule out him ever making it to the Netflix corner of the universe. While he would undoubtedly be a great fit alongside those characters and be the benefit of longer-form character-focused storytelling, the possibilities of Moon Knight’s world being explored on the big screen is an exciting prospect.

Entertainment, Movie News, the avengers 3

Marvel Studios head and MCU mastermind Kevin Feige cleverly addresses James Cameron’s comments criticizing the comic book film genre. Building his career on the backs of superhero narratives, the 44-year-old Feige was expected to have the perfect rebuttal to Cameron’s arguments. But instead of making it a bigger issue than it should be, he opted to navigate his way out of the tricky question in the most clever way possible.

While everyone is gearing up for a huge Marvel week with the arrival of Avengers: Infinity War, it seems likely that the veteran sci-fi director won’t be joining the legion of fans seeing the epic blockbuster come opening weekend, following his latest comments regarding superhero films. Specifically citing the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy, Cameron criticized the flicks for their “hyper-gonadal males without families doing death-defying things for two hours and wrecking cities in the process,” and blatantly said that he hopes that the audience will soon get fatigued from these types of stories.

RELATED: Feige On Superhero Fatigue: Marvel Keeps Things ‘Fresh’

Sitting down with Vulture during Infinity War’s press junket, Feige was asked for comments regarding Cameron’s recent tirade. The interviewer quoted the director and out of everything that he said about comic book movies,  the Marvel Studios boss zeroed in on the filmmaker’s disclaimer quote that “[It’s] not that [he] I [doesn’t] don’t love the movies. It’s just, come on, guys” – obviously an attempt to soften his statements , but it was enough for Feige to form the perfect reply “Uh, he loves the movies! That’s awesome! Wow, James Cameron loves our movies! That’s exciting,” he said.

Avengers Infinity War SDCC Banner cropped Kevin Feige Amusingly Responds to James Camerons Superhero Criticisms

This is not the first time that Cameron had some words for the popular film genre. Last year, he criticized Warner Bros.’ Wonder Woman for its supposed depiction of a heroine and calling it “a step backward” regarding how Hollywood represents strong female characters on the big screen. Director Patty Jenkins eventually responded to the jab, but unlike Feige seemingly trying to brush it off with his own brand of humor (likely so the issue won’t be blown out of proportion), the filmmaker released a statement that was profound, sensible and dignified.

It’s uncertain where Cameron’s dislike (because despite his disclaimers, it doesn’t seem like he’s a big fan) for comic book movies is coming from. These films have tremendously helped the struggling box office in the last few years, not to mention introduced the movie-going culture to a whole new generation of fans. While there are questionable films (just like in every genre), there are revolutionary ones like Wonder Woman and Black Panther leading the charge for proper female and racial representation in Hollywood. One wonders if the filmmaker has had a chance to have a chat with Zoe Saldana – who will reprise her role as Neytiri in the long-delayed Avatar sequels – and is also a part of the Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, considering the actress’ recent comments about elitists in the industry who look down on superhero flicks.

Entertainment, guardians of the galaxy 3, Movie News, nova

Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige teases Nova‘s “immediate potential” to be brought into the MCU sooner rather than later. The release of Avengers: Infinity War may be at the forefront of the minds of many, but Marvel is already looking far into the future. They still have three movies left in Phase 3 after Thanos’ arrival, and work is underway on a number of Phase 4 titles. Black Widow recently found a writer, and Feige confirmed Spider-Man: Homecoming 2‘s international adventure, but the cosmos will also be a major piece.

James Gunn is returning to write and direct Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, but he’s also helping Marvel shape the next decade of cosmic stories. He’s previously said that Nova is definitely in consideration to be brought in, but that was last fall and there’s been no word on his status since.

Related: Theory: How Thanos Brings NOVA To The MCU

Kevin Feige provided some insight into how Marvel Studios views Nova while speaking to ComicBook as part of Infinity War‘s press tour. It sounds like Feige is on the same page as Gunn and views Nova as someone who can come in sooner rather than later and establish himself as a major part of the MCU.

Nova is… if we have a big board with a bunch of characters that have more immediate potential, Nova is on that board. Because of the connection to the Guardians universe, because there are more than one examples to pull from in the comics that are interesting. And you’re absolutely right, he was in the earliest drafts of the [Guardians of the Galaxy].

Nova Marvel Comics Cover Issue 1 Nova Has Immediate Potential in the MCU

Considering Marvel Studios has yet to officially confirm what the plans are after Avengers 4 (outside of Spidey’s sequel), Feige isn’t quite ready to detail how or when Nova would be introduced. We have our theory for how Infinity War is leading to Nova’s introduction, but a proper showing from Richard Rider could come with Guardians 3 at the earliest. If seeds of his arrival aren’t teased there, then fans may just have to wait for a possible solo movie to see Nova really brought to life.

Everyone will have a better understanding for how Nova can become involved after seeing Infinity War, but there’s already clues. Thanos has the Power Stone in the trailers, so he’s going to have to visit Xandar, the home of the Nova Corps, to retrieve it. There forces already took a hit during Ronan’s attack, and they clearly won’t be able to stop Thanos either. If they continue to draw from Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning Guardians of the Galaxy run, then it won’t be surprising to learn down the road that Richard was involved in these fights, but is now the only member of the Nova Corps left.

Nova is one of Marvel’s biggest cosmic heroes after all, so it was only a matter of time before he joined the MCU. Now that the universe may be losing a few major players, though, there could certainly be a void left to fill. Marvel is developing decades of cosmic stories too, so whether it’s a new Guardians movie or a solo movie, there continues to be momentum building for Nova’s MCU debut.

Entertainment, Movie News, ready player one

Steven Spielberg’s nostalgia packed sci-fi romp Ready Player One has proven to be an unstoppable juggernaut at the box office as the film passes the $500 million worldwide mark. The impressive success of this film is one of the highest grossing sci-fi openings in China and has become Spielberg’s highest-grossing film in the past decade.

Ready Player One garnered a lot of criticism before it even hit theaters. Detractors looked down on the premise, claiming the references and Easter eggs were an empty cash grab hoping to succeed on the back of the current market for nostalgia. Reviews of Ready Player One gave the film the benefit of the doubt, remarking on its beauty and creativity, despite a few storytelling issues. In the end, it didn’t matter, because the film has proven its staying power and market draw.

Variety reports on Ready Player One‘s success as the film has made over $500 million worldwide. Spielberg’s sci-fi movie has earned over $200 million in China alone, with $61 million of that being earned in its opening weekend. Ready Player One‘s domestic box office earnings have been just as respectable, bringing in over $120 million in its run, so far. The rest of that $500 million is made up of a combined $179 million from other foreign markets. The film just opened in Japan this past weekend, so there is room for its box office success to continue to grow.

Tracer Chun Li Ready Player One Ready Player One Passes $500 Million Worldwide

This outstanding box office success isn’t just notable because of the criticism over the film or because of Spielberg’s past decade as a director. It wouldn’t exactly be fair to say that the film is only doing well compared to the director’s past work. Ready Player One isn’t just doing well compared to Spielberg’s past decade, it’s doing well compared to everything that has debuted so far in 2018, earning a top spot on the earnings list for the films that have debuted this year. The film surprisingly passed both A Wrinkle In Time, which earned $116.8 million, and Pacific Rim Uprising, which earned $267.3 million.

Spielberg is personally enjoying the success of Ready Player One, the combination of his films’ total earnings has just passed $10 billion. The Schindler’s List and Raiders Of The Lost Ark director is the first to pass this milestone. Despite Ready Player One being one of Spielberg’s most notable projects in the past 10 years, it is still not his highest grossing movie. That distinction goes to Jurassic Park, which earned $983.8 million worldwide.
